Then use a cordless drill to drive the screw into a new hole in the fascia board.
No gutter spikes on my gutters.
Years ago spikes and ferrules were a common method for hanging gutters.
If your gutters are fastened with spikes and some spikes are loose or rusted simply hammering the spike back in isn t likely to solve the problem as the spike will tend to work its way back.
They are also the easiest thing to fix.
One way to make sure your gutter doesn t fall off the house is to install fascia hanger brackets.
If they really won t hold maybe you could squirt some silicone or construction adhesive back into the hole before putting the spike into the fascia as a temporary fix to keep them from working out again when the old gutters are taken down you will probably be able to see where the fascia has been nailed to the rafter tails.
Whenever you can see your gutter spikes hanging out of their holes that means you have loose gutter spikes.
They do the job all right but eventually the spikes work themselves loose.
Just because your gutters have loose gutter spikes does not mean you need to replace your gutters.
Loose gutter spikes are the most common issue homeowners have with their gutters.
Replacing them with steel gutter screws and rigid plastic ferrules provides a more secure alternative and will prevent them from pulling loose or sagging.
Pounding them back in is a temporary fix at best.
